Paper napkins are the line buyers add last and regret first: the ply is too thin for a dinner service, the fold does not fit the dispenser, or the colour does not match the tablecloth that shipped with it. This page covers what caterers and retail packers actually confirm before a bulk napkin order, and how napkins fit the rest of the table set we supply.

What a bulk napkin order is made of

Four decisions decide everything downstream: sheet size, ply, fold and colour or print. Get them in the wrong order and a container arrives that works on paper but not in service.

Decision Typical options What it changes
Sheet size Cocktail and dinner sizes Whether the napkin reads as a drinks napkin or a full place setting
Ply Single and multi-ply Absorbency, how it behaves under cutlery, and the per-piece price
Fold Dispenser and place-setting folds Whether staff can serve fast and whether the pack presents well on the table
Colour or print Solid party shades; seasonal and themed prints Whether the napkin runs all year or peaks with the season

The detail behind each of these is in the bulk napkin buying guide, including how to match colour across items.

Solid colour or printed

Caterers and restaurants buy solid colour, because it works with any menu: our solid colour napkins come in the party shades that also appear in the tablecloth range and the cutlery. Party wholesalers and retail packers buy prints, because a themed set sells as a set: printed napkins are produced to your artwork or from our stock seasonal designs, and the prints are aligned with printed tablecloths so the theme does not break across items.

Buying napkins with the rest of the table

Napkins ordered on their own cost more to freight per piece than napkins ordered inside a mixed carton. Catering buyers usually assemble the full setting: napkins, tablecloths, solid colour covers, cutlery and plates, packed together. Where a theme or a set is being sold, party sets bundle the parts pre-packed.

Packing for catering, retail and bulk

Three packing routes, and the choice is a channel decision as much as a logistics one: catering packs sized to service, retail-ready packs with the branding your shelf needs, and bulk master cartons for distributors. Carton counts, pack counts and gross weights are stated on the quotation so your forwarder can quote the rest of the route – see how we quote.

Questions caterers and packers ask us

Can napkins match a tablecloth we already buy?

Yes, if the colour is a stock shade – send the reference and we confirm the match. For prints, send the artwork or a reference sample and we confirm what is workable before quoting.

What is the minimum order?

MOQ is set per item, not per order, and stock colours start lower than custom prints. Tell us the item and market and we confirm the exact MOQ for that line on the quotation.

Can napkins ship with the rest of the order?

Yes. Napkins, tablecloths, cutlery and plates are packed into mixed cartons, which is how most catering buyers reduce freight per piece.

How to get a napkin quote

Send the sheet size, ply, fold, colour or print reference, pack count and destination port. If you are still choosing between ply and fold, say so and we will send the options with the pricing. Request a quotation, or read the wholesale FAQ first if your question is on materials, samples or terms.
